Vampire Covenant - Finished Proposals for RT - Week 3

this is week 3 proposals.


Change Design:


A. Wraith (not Wailing Spirits)
Can take magic items for up to 50 pts. (if not all categories, at last Magic Talismans, so not Acursed Book for him; even now is only one use and is not very OP).
Can take a a Skeletal Steed (remember, non flying steeds).
Never seen in 9th army lists. Allows you to protect your most fragile units if you invest in them. Steed lets him join Barrow Knights and Burning Reapers for a more diverse roll.


Balance:


1) Magic Item - Nightshroud
Make it available for all models except those mounted on Large Targets.
Less limiting.


Nightshroud (40 pts) - models on foot only
Enemy models in base contact with wearer, and all models allocating close combat attacks at the wearer, do not gain strength bonuses of the +X type conferred by mundane or magical weapons.



2). Blade of Red Thirst
If mounted on a Large Target the Model only has Vampiric (5+)
Along with 3). it creates a nice scaling when used with refined taste. Large Targets get 5+ which can be increased to 4+, others gain 3+ which can be increased to 2+.


Blade of Red Thirst (40 pts)
Type: Hand weapon. Any Vampire wielding this blade gains Vampiric (3+) and may roll 1D6 for each Wound it inflicted when rolling for Vampiric. Any excess wounds Raised can be used to Raise wounds on unit that the character is part of.



Vampiric (X):
At the end of the close combat phase, roll a D6 for each unit with this Special Rule that caused at least one wound during the phase. On the roll of X+ a single wound is Raised to the unit, where X is the number stated within the brackets. Characters must cause wounds and roll for Raised wounds separately from any unit they are joined to.


3). Refined Taste
If mounted on a Large Target the Model only has Vampiric (4+). (Now is ever 3+. In large targers, recover wounds in 3+ maybe is too powerful).

4) Blood Hauberk (Plate Armour & +1 Wound): 45 pts. Down to 35 Pts (same as UD one).

5) Reaper. Only unengaed enemy units can be attacked with this special rule. Stop combo tarpit+flying reapers overflying it.

6) Otherworldy Scream. Change shooting attacks to Special Shootings Attacks (so no combinable with flaming banner). Proposed by RT.

7) Wraith Sentries has two spells. Touch of the reaper. And Unseen Lurker. Unseen Lurker was deleted in last revision. So they need a new spell. Two proposals:
a) Shadow Miasma - 5+/10+ The target has -D3 to either WS, BS, M or I (to a min. of 1) (declare which when choosing target). [Boosted version affects all 4 characteristics.]
b) Gnawing Spirits - 8+/10+ Target suffers 2D6[3D6] strength 2 hits with Armour Piercing (6).

Wszystkie te propozycje są potem rozpatrywane przez RT (z tygodnia na tydzień), trwa dyskusja między RT i poszczególnymi ABC (już ukryta przede mną a widoczna dla tychże ABC jedynie) i wynik tych dyskusji jest wprowadzany do nowej wersji armybooka. Po zatwierdzeniu w ten sposób zmian z czwartego tygodnia tenże nowy armybook będzie upubliczniony.

Vampire Covenant - Proposal for the RT week 4

Game design

1. Floating Court (rare unit)
Split 3 Paramours into 2 Paramours and 1 Maiden. Maiden has the Distracting Special Rule.
So only Floating Court as Rare choice has Distracting and Floating Court as mount don´t have.

2. Vampire Knight Champion
Allow him 25 pts in Magic Weapons.
He could in 8th

3. (from week 2). Decrease cost of Hero Wraith (but not Banshee) by 10 and remove Great Weapon. Add option for Great Weapon and option for Magic Weapon up to 50 pts (or 25 pts).
More variety.

Balance Changes

a) "A Blood Drake vampires cannot refuse challenges and must issue one whenever possible, unless another character does it first."
Streamlined with WotDG. Makes the bloodline a little more playable. Based on community feedback.


b) Barrow Knight cost 100 pts for 5 and 23 pts per extra (instead of 120 for 5 and 24 pts per extra)
To compete with Vampiric Knights. This is not an impressive unit and it would be nice to see them without deathstar mode. A little cheaper starting cost should encourage that. Bodyguard is an alternative but it encourages deathstars. Remember Invocation (2), that hit them hard.


c) Wraith Sentries cost 70 pts for 3 and 30 pts per extra (instead of 150 pts for 5 and 30 pts per extra)
A little cheaper and perhaps a new purpose in small numbers. Overall the unit is aright but a little to expensive.


d) Ghoul Monstrosities cost 100 pts for 3 and 45 per extra (instead of 110 pts for 3 and 48 per extra)
The big hit one these is the IoN nerf. With that considered the price increase we gave them was a bit too high.


e) Ghost Horde cost 70 pts for 2, 25 per extra (instead of 70 for 2 and 35 per extra)
This unit really struggles with the nerf to Ethereal. A little cheaper in big numbers should make them more attractive. Before we had 3 bases for 90 and that was a little too good but this should be about right.


f) Burning Reapers cost 120 pts for 5 and 40 per extra (instead of 150 pts for 5 and 30 per extra)
These are scary in big numbers, quite charming in small. Lets have the point reflect that. This costs the same for a unit of 8, the 9th and 10th are more expensive.


g) Zombie Dragon at 220 pts and Greater at 30 pts (instead of 280 pts and 40 pts) but the Greater has WS4 (instead of WS5)
The downsides of having a Vampire Lord on a dragon are massive. At 280 there is no chance in hell it is worth the cost. With a cheaper cost it might see some use and the lower WS means others have a better chance at countering it. Depends on if something is done that helps big monster mounts in general.


h) Vampire Lord cost 190 pts (instead of 200 pts)
We sink an unbelievable amount of point into the lord. Hard to say exactly what it is that should be cheaper but an overall 10 pts should be about right. Compared to 8th this is balanced by higher cost on eq and mounts.


i) New option on Skeletal Steed: Replace Ethereal with Barding and +1 Weapon Skill and +1 Strength for 5 pts
Have been some complaints that we removed the Nightmare mount. This feels better if the Vampire is riding with Vampire Knights.

j) "Units consisting solely of models with this special rule may move through units during the Remaining Moves Sub-Phase. All Models in such units can make a single Close Combat attack against a single unengaged enemy unit which has been moved through. These attacks hit automatically and are distributed towards the unit as a whole."
Let them move though friendly units for greater freedom. Was this way in 8th.

Po dzisiejszym turnieju - gwardia ws5 +1 do hita distracting miodzio. Przepchnęła nawet szarżujący gutstar.
Eteryki też są bardzo fajne. Magia jest teraz trochę słabsza, wskrzeszanie lepsze, 30/pkt za wraitha, nic tylko brać.
Szkielety z włóczniami bardzo fajny oddział. Tylko musi ich być jakieś 50.
Z tego wszystkiego brakuje mi punktów na sensowną magię. Na szczęście 4lvl nie jest wreszcie must have, 2x2lvl dają radę :)

Furthermore, in a joint change for both undead armies, the BSB option has been buffed
Winged Reapers. In conjunction with the Vampire Covenant Army Book Committee, Winged Reapers were adjusted to make them more competitive. They have received an extra attack and new customization options that will allow Winged Reapers to fulfill a unique role in both undead armies. Players may now choose between their army-supporting Necromatic Aura or a new Autonomous special rule that allows Winged Reapers to march outside of the General's Inspiring Presence range
